From Breakdown to Breakthrough: Becoming Engines of Wellbeing

 

Six years ago, my world fell apart.

In a single year, I experienced multiple losses at work and at home, the isolation of a pandemic pregnancy, the birth of my first child, and a suicide in my workplace. I returned to work too soon, trying to hold everything together, until I couldn’t.

Alcohol became the socially acceptable and actively encouraged way to numb the exhaustion and guilt. From the outside, I looked successful; inside, I was running on empty.

One night, the question “Why am I still here?” stopped me in my tracks. That moment was my turning point.

I found the support I needed to start healing by quitting drinking. As the fog lifted, I began to see what was really missing: systems of support for wellbeing at home and at work.

From Breakdown to Framework

Before this chapter of my life, I spent more than two decades in leadership roles in hospitality and construction, including over a decade dedicated to occupational health and safety.

I had built policies, trained teams, and led organizations through significant change. But when I personally hit burnout and began my recovery, I saw how even the most well-intentioned systems can fail to support the humans inside them.

That realization led me to Total Worker Health®, a framework that steps back and looks at the whole picture. A framework that integrates leadership, safety, HR, operations, and wellbeing into one conversation. It gave me a structure to do what I do best: roll up my sleeves, engage people and systems directly, and co-create positive change.

Now, through Integrating Wellness Solutions, I help organizations and individuals design systems that fuel wellbeing and performance through:

Becoming Engines of Wellbeing

I believe every workplace and every individual can become an engine of wellbeing.

An engine is a system that generates power and momentum. When we intentionally design how we live and work to support safety, health, connection, and purpose, we don’t just feel better, we create environments where everyone around us can reach their potential.
